About this position
Purpose is to complete four (4) units of Clinical Spiritual Care Education while providing ongoing pastoral care to the patients
What we’ll expect from you
- Provides spiritual care for patients, families, and staff in assigned areas, including but not limited to prayer, sacraments, and religious, spiritual, and emotional support.
- Participates in supervised education activities congruent with the needs of the Pastoral Care Department at North Memorial Health and the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc.
- Collaborates with Chaplains in providing in-services, debriefings and consultation for staff regarding the spiritual care of patients and families.
- Completes tasks, as resident within the Pastoral Care Department, assigned by the supervisory staff to further their learning in the administrative tasks of a pastoral care ministry.
- Develops competencies in the theoretical understanding and application of spiritual care giving.
- Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

Education
- Master's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Theology, or Master's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Divinity, or Master's Degree in Religious Studies or related field.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in professional caregiving or in providing caregiving within a similar capacity. • One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.- Basic knowledge of theology/spiritual care and spiritual assessment.
- Previous demonstrable experience working within, or as part of, a faith-based congregation required. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar products
- Ability to adapt to change, work with diverse personalities, cultures and faith traditions.
- Strong spiritual care background with a basic working knowledge of theology, spirituality, interpretation of sacred writings, human behavior and spiritual care skills to allow engagement in pastoral encounters from which to develop increased skill and competence as a pastoral minister.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's/family's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
- Must be able to drive to North Memorial Health facilities within the area
Hours per two week pay period: 80
Shift: Days 8 hours
Weekend Requirement: Weekends by Department Rotation
